Aliya Aliya Shamshudin
Guyanese by heart and heritage, Aliya is a recent graduate of Queen’s University with a BAH Distinction in English Literature, and an International Study Certificate. Growing up in St. Maarten, Canada, and Guyana where she attended an international school, she has an appreciation for international affairs, organizations, and peoples. At Queen’s, she coordinated the African Caribbean Students’ Association’s Culture Show to great success, volunteered at the International Center, was on the editorial committee of cultureSHOCK: an antiracist publication, and studied abroad at the International Study Center in Sussex, England. An aspiring writer, she has placed first in the Youth Poetry Competition of the Guyana Annual, and has participated in poetry readings in Guyana and Canada. At theCOR, Aliya looks forward to sharing her passions with a new community.
SportsNaytion Nadine Liverpool
Nadine Liverpool is your go to girl for everything and anything sports related! This aspiring sports reporter is the new face of the sCORboard and your guide to all the fascinating things happening in the sports world. She has been playing soccer since the age of nine and has played on both the Canadian and Trinidadian national teams. As well, she received her Bachelors of Science in psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham on a soccer scholarship. Her deep passion for sports has now brought her to the next stage of her life, where she is embarking into the sports journalism industry and giving back to the one thing that has brought her many successes throughout her athletic career. ‘She just recently launched her own sports show on YouTube called SportsNAYtion, which is an edgy, fun, and informative show for hardcore sports fans like herself.
Newton Newton Asare II
Newton is the founder of Money Minds & Common Cents (MC²) a financial literacy enhancement initiative. He is also a business mogul whose repertoire is wide spread among various community groups. As a licensed financial analyst, entrepreneur, educator, and writer his mission is to develop a new generation of individuals possessing the capacity to build wealth through financial education and personal growth. An avid community advocate, his association with many organizations such as: The Youth Challenge Fund (YCF), Success Power Opportunity and Teamwork (The SPOT), Helping Youth Pursue Education (HYPE) and the 1st Generation project at Centennial College to name a few, conveys his enthusiasm and commitment to the evolution and opulence of individuals regardless of age in the communities across Toronto.
Roach Uno
Roach Uno a.k.a Cabeza Cicatriz a.k.a Roach The Spont has been a student of the arts for most of his life. Originally from Argentina Roach Uno is a perfect example of the multicultural spectrum of sound found in Toronto. Roach’s style can only be described as dirty, his flow and delivery are fierce yet smooth tied together by elaborate rhyme schemes with an almost narrative tone. Roach has a nostalgic feel to his style and paints vivid pictures with detailed and often abstract writing. For Roach writing has always been constant, short poems and logs that eventually developed into song writing inevitably transitioned to studio recording.
Simone Simone Samuels
Simone Samuels is theCOR’s scholarship expert. She is the recipient of numerous local, national, and international scholarships and awards, including the North American Division Distinguished Youth Award (2006), and the Harry Jerome Award for Leadership (2006). Simone has also been listed in the Canadian Who’s Who since 2008. Among her many activities, she is an ordained elder, an active member of the Pathfinder club at her church, a French tutor, a protégée in the Toronto Regional Champion Campaign, and the founder and program coordinator of the Girls in Transition Initiative – a life skills and self esteem development program for black teenage girls. She is also a charter member and founding president of the Golden Key International Honour Society at York University, a research assistant, a member of the Glendon College Faculty Council, and an assistant coordinator of the Glendon Women and Trans Centre, as well as other councils and committees. In 2010, Simone hopes to graduate from York University (Glendon College), where she is currently pursuing a bilingual Bachelor of Arts (honours) degree, double majoring in political science and philosophy, with a Certificate in Law and Social Thought, a Certificate in Practical Ethics, a Certificate of Bilingualism and a Certificate of Bilingual Excellence.
urban amore Tasia Richards
Tasia “Taysh” Richards is a Communication Studies and Corporate Communications graduate from the University of Windsor and Seneca College. Her passion and admiration for entertainment drives her to become a reputable public relations maven or entertainment journalist. In order to get her work out to the public Richards created the blog Urban Amore. It updates people on the latest in news, music, fashion and events. With her growing team Urban Amore is working to make their way number one in website entertainment. As a contributor to theCOR, Richards will be fusing vlogs and blogs via the Urban Amore site.

Femi Victoria Cutajar
Victoria Cutajar is theCOR‘s expert for the fashion world. Of Italian and Maltese descent, Victoria was born and raised in the city of Toronto. She loves fashion, hair and make-up and hopes to expand her knowledge in these areas. She also loves writing and is in the process of writing a book. She hopes to one day pursue a job in hairstyling and hopes to work behind the scenes at fashion shows by working on models’ hair. Victoria hopes theCOR will help her to network and help her to achieve her future goals while writing about her favourite topics.
